About Reach the Beach and Who We Are:

What's All This, Then?

Information about who we are and what Reach the Beach is can be seen below. A little bit further down the page, as we draw nearer to the race weekend, you'll find regular entries on how we're doing, both in terms of fundraising and getting ready for the race. As the race is underway, we'll be regularly updating the site with a running blog, keeping our rabid fans up-to-date with exactly where we are in the race and how we're all doing.

Reach The Beach

The Reach The Beach (RTB) Relay is the longest running relay race in the United States. The RTB Relay will take place in picturesque New Hampshire during the start of the New England foliage season. The relay will consist of (a maximum of ) 12 person teams that will rotate through 36 transition areas as they cover the approximate 200 mile distance of the race. This means that each relay team member will run 3 legs of varying lengths and difficulty and will cover an average total distance of ~16.6 miles.

Green Hornets Team

The Green Hornets Running Team is made up of twelve local people who run for fun, and once a year, run for a great cause. This year, we're raising money for the SHADE Foundation, in memory of our good friend Rich Lennon, who lost his battle with melanoma this past spring. This year's team is made up of the following: Amy Cardin; Eric Cardin; Theresa Coyle; Mike Enos; Bobby Ewell; Chrissy Hannon; Chris Kidney; Drew McKenna; Leah McKenna; Mike McKenna; Chad Powell; and Jeremy Powell. Amy, Eric, and Chris will be joining us this year in what will be the first RTB race for each of them.

If you'd like to make a donation, please do so either by clicking on the link at the top of this page to donate online, or by sending a check written to the SHADE Foundation. Please mail it to Leah McKenna, 7 Forest St., Middleboro, MA, 02346
