Chrissy McKenna - Runner #07

Previous RTBs - 2005 (Leg #4), 2006 (Leg #4), 2007 (Leg #12)

Chrissy McKenna Favorite RTB Memory: RTB has been such an amazing experience that it is difficult to narrow down my favorite memories to a short list, but I will do my best. Of course, my most obvious favorite memory would have to be Drew's proposal at the finish line in '07. It amazes me still to this day that our whole team knew about it and it never slipped out during our intimate 24 hours in the vans. Another memory that ranks high for me is my night run during the RTB '06. It may not have been my fastest pace, but I felt as if I was flying through the night in the pouring rain and darkness that surrounded me. It was awesome! I probably should have been nervous since there were no other runners around for most of the leg, but just knowing that my teammates were pulled over in a van up ahead of me at every 1/2 mile gave me the courage and ease of mind to push through. Just to list a few others: Jess ruining Bobby's chance of ever eating a meatball again in '05, Bobby's first place finish in leg one of our first year, falling during one of my runs and then rolling into the oncoming traffic, Sarah's famous quotes, the walk/runner I beat to the finish line in '06, the feeling at the end of '07 when we realized that we had beaten our previous times, the bonding of Van #1 (the Varsity team), the support from Van #2, and the family and friends that have supported us each year at the finish line.

Worst memory: One of my worst memories was when I ran my third leg of RTB '05. Although it should have been a relief to be done with the race, it was torturous. Not only were my legs hardly moving, but the rolling hills, which seemed monsterous at the time, were never-ending. I don't remember what my finish time ended up being for that run, but I am sure it was pretty ugly. Of course the port 'o potties were awesome in '07 because we were way ahead of our time, but they were certainly frightening in '05 and '06 when we had to practically stand on our tiptoes to avoid contact with any of its contents. Disgusting!! Going hand and hand with the toilets would have to be the sweet aroma at Bear Brook. It's no wonder we keep coming back!

Greatest asset: I am going to have to go with my acute fashion sense. With my hoop earrings, sweet bandannas, raised thong sandals with socks, spandex shorts, and Central sweatshirt, I have certainly carried the team in style points.
