Chad Powell - Runner #10
Previous RTBs - 2005 (Leg #9), 2007 (Leg #4)
Favorite RTB Memory: 05' - running in the early morning drizzle,
surrounded by pitch darkness, with an eery feeling of solitude and a
deathly silence broken only by my deep breathing and the faint glow of a
runner's light in the distance...or...knowing after the race had ended
that I didn't have to run or train anymore
Worst RTB Memory: the mini-van stench after the race
Your greatest asset to the team: blazing speed on the downhills
Comments/Quotes/Miscellaneous Thoughts: I recant from the statement I
made post-race in 05' that I never want to run again. RTB has an odd
effect on someone like myself who is not a natural runner (ie would
rather ride my bike) - the race really brought my hatred of running to a
new high but given time and forgotten memories, the camaraderie and
shared experiences from the race draw me back year after year.
